Bread was a staple food in many cultures in known space. It was often prepared by baking a dough of flour and water. Salt, fat and yeast were common ingredients, though breads may contain milk, eggs, sugar, fruits, vegetables, or nuts. When sliced and browned by exposure to dry heat, bread is known as toast.
Bread was an available food to the many pilgirms who traveled to see the Emissary's land after 2375. (New Worlds, New Civilizations short story: "A Walk in the Path of the Emissary")
