A division of CBS Corporation, CBS Paramount Television was created when Viacom separated itself intwo two corporations, Viacom and CBS, Inc. Viacom retained ownership of Paramount Pictures, which Paramount Television had been a division of. Paramount Television was made a division of CBS, Inc., and given its current name. Paramount Pictures retains ownership of the Trek films through license from CBS Paramount Television.
