The CDS Kraxon (CUW-8381)[1] was a Cardassian starship, a Galor-class battlecruiser in the Cardassian Union Guard service in the 2360s and 2370s. (DS9 episode: "Defiant", CCG set: Blaze of Glory, WizKids modules: Tactics, Attack Wing)

History[]

Gul Dolak was the first to command the Kraxon. (CCG set: Blaze of Glory)

In 2368, the Kraxon, under the command of Gul Dolak, participated in a conspiracy to deceive the Federation into helping Cardassia hunt down Bajoran terrorists, successfully convincing Vice Admiral Kennelly that the Bajorans were attacking Federation territory. the Kraxon intercepted the USS Enterprise-D and the vessel they were escorting, suspected of harboring the terrorists, in the Demilitarized Zone. With Dolak's claim that the Enterprise-D was escorting Bajoran terrorists, the Enterprise-D moved away from the vessel enabling the Kraxon and her sister ship to destroyed the ship. However, with the vessel being under remote control no lives had been lost. (TNG episode: "Ensign Ro"; CCG set: Blaze of Glory)

By 2371, the Kraxon fell under the command of Gul Ranor. In that year, the Kraxon was one of the ships ordered by Gul Skrain Dukat to hunt down the USS Defiant, that had been stolen by Thomas Riker and the Maquis. When Riker agreed to surrender, Kraxon was closest.

However, Gul Dukat later ordered the Kraxon to defend the Defiant when it was approached by a force of Keldon-class warships from the Orias system, which were later discovered to be Obsidian Order vessels. After working a deal with Commander Benjamin Sisko, Dukat agreed to let the Defiant go in return for sensor logs and Tom Riker. The Kraxon later took Riker back to Cardassia Prime to face a trial for his actions. (DS9 episode: "Defiant"; WizKids module: Tactics)

In 2376, following the end of the Dominion War, the Kraxon was among the Galor-class ships equipped with additional modules like those on Keldon-class ships.

In that year, the Kraxon was part of the Cardassian fleet in the Devron system. The Cardassians were negotiating to sell their Omega molecule to the Ferengi Latinum Consortium when Admiral Sela arrived with Romulan Star Empire forces to seize the molecule. The Kraxon engaged the Romulans, but the Star Empire sucessfully seized Omega. (ST video game: Armada mission: "A Call to Power")

By 2377, the additional modules had been removed from the hull. The ship became part of Gul Kentar's Cardassian Rebellion against the Klingon occupation of Union space. As such, this ship saw action in battles at Vanoshan, Kestian, Crucis Major, Cardassia Prime and other locations. (ST video game: Armada II Klingon campaign)

In 2379, this ship appeared in holographic training scenarios at Starfleet Academy. In these encounters, the Cardassian Union fought with the Federation and the Romulan Star Empire. (ST video game: Armada II Tutorial campaign)

Background[]

  • The Kraxon shared its registry number with the CDS Trager. (Decipher RPG module: Starships)
  • In the Armada games, no specific history or definitive final fate was established for this vessel as its name was selected for a battleship by the game developers, and is sometimes placed randomly when the ship appears.
