Cancún was a coastal city on the eastern shore of Mexico on the Yucatán Peninsula on Earth. Cancún was known as a popular tourist destination.

After Earth Starfleet Captain Erika Hernandez and her fellow Columbia officers were stranded on Axion following the destruction of Erigol, Caeliar scientist Inyx suggested that architect Edrin could create a holographic chamber to simulate therapeutic environments for the humans; Hernandez insisted that holograms could not stand in for a night on the beaches of Cancún.
