- odo-ital: The word for "nothing". Odo was given this name by the Cardassians and eventually shortened it to just "Odo". (DS9 episode: "Heart of Stone")
- shtel
- Cardassian language word used in colorful metaphors. In context, a Cardassian might say "I don't give a shtel what he said". (TTN novel: Sword of Damocles)

The Cardassian alphabet was designed by the TNG and DS9 art departments for use on models, set decoration and computer displays.
