The Cardassian mining freighter was a type of mining freighter starship in service to the Cardassian Union in the late 24th century.

The freighters were designed to extract large amounts of valuable minerals and materials (such as dilithium or latinum) using a powerful mining beam. Once transported aboard the freighter, the material were then taken to a mining station or facility to be processed.

Unfortunately, carrying such a heavy payload creates a huge power drain which limits the freighter's speed to impulse or very low warp speeds. The freighters were also unarmed, although they were equipped with heavy shielding which allowed them to withstand considerable damage in combat. (TNG video game: Armada II manual)
