Cardassia is the star at the center of the planet Cardassia's system. The name of the star is also used as a form of the Cardassian homeworld's name, Cardassia Prime, and is the seat of power for the Cardassian Union.

The star is a bright red dwarf (class M2V). (Last Unicorn RPG module: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine - Narrator's Toolkit)

The system has a class K star, and eight planets, four of which are class M planets, all four inhabitated. The system also has two asteroid belts. (ST reference: Star Charts)
