Caretaker (Nacene)

The Caretaker was a powerful sporocystian life form that brought the USS Voyager over 70,000 light years into the Delta Quadrant.

Around 1,500 years ago, The Caretaker and a group of Nacene visited the Delta Quadrant from another galaxy. While studying the planet Ocampa, they caused "The Warming", which devastated the surface of the planet. The Caretaker decided that he and his female companion, Suspiria, would remain behind and care for the Ocampa. After a time, Suspiria left with a group of Ocampans, but the Caretaker remained behind.

By 2371, he was approaching his death, so he began searching the galaxy for a species that he could breed with them so that his offspring could take over his enormous responsibility. He brought numerous starships from the Alpha Quadrant apart from Voyager, including the USS Equinox and a Cardassian Galor-class warship. Unfortunately, he died before his plan was able to succeed.
