See Ramirez for other articles with titles that contain, either by relationship or by coincidence, this character's surname.

Carlos Ramirez was a Human man who served as an United Earth Starfleet officer in the 22nd century. Eventually, he rose to command the starship Intrepid. He was a friend of Jonathan Archer, and commanded his ship with distinction during the Earth-Romulan War.

Biography[]

In 2153, Ramirez was given command to the newly launched prototype of the Intrepid-class. In that year, following the Xindi attack on Earth, the Intrepid lead a small task force of Starfleet vessels to help the Enterprise ward off an attacking Klingon Bird-of-Prey at the edge of the Sol system. (ENT novels: The Expanse, A Choice of Futures)

Ramirez was still in command of Intrepid when the Earth-Romulan War broke out. In early 2156, he and the Intrepid took part in a war game with one of Enterprises shuttlepods. This test allowed Starfleet to determine how Romulan forces were able to play warp detection grids protecting Coalition of Planets star systems. After the war game, Ramirez had dinner with the captains of the other participating ships: Jonathan Archer, Erika Hernandez, Uttan Narsu, and Bryce Shumar.

Later that year Ramirez convinced Starfleet Command that Intrepid should join Archer's task force to retake Berengaria. Following the battle, he assisted Archer with the inspection of the remains of Starbase 1. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

In 2159, the Intrepid along with the USS Republic were assigned to escort supply convoys ferrying supplies to Starfleet's forward operating bases. Eventually, Enterprise was ordered to join them. While the convoy were traveling through the Vorkado system, they came across the IRW Aoi'fvienn. In the ensuing battle, Intrepid was heavily damaged and Ramirez was killed. (ENT novel: To Brave the Storm)

Alternate timeline[]

In an alternate timeline where the Xindi's weapon successfully destroyed Earth, the Intrepid was one of the few United Earth Starfleet starships to survive, and go on to protected the colony of survivors on Ceti Alpha V. Ramirez was about to stand down as captain in 2165, to be replaced by Malcolm Reed, when the Intrepid was severely damaged in a Xindi attack, and ultimately Jonathan Archer modified the timeline to prevent Earth's destruction. (ENT episode: "Twilight")
