Catullans were humanoids from Catulla, a civilization that was a member of the Federation. They appear to have the ability to perform a nerve pinch similar to that employed by Vulcans, but it involves pressing the thumbs against the sides of the victim's neck below the ears. Catullans were noted starship engineers and many successful design yards were based out of Catulla. ^{[citation needed]}

The ubiquitous Yoyodyne Propulsion Systems was co-founded by Terrans and Catullans and was headquartered on Catulla. Their other sciences and society were slightly less advanced, but well up to Federation standards. By the 2260s, they had been members of the Federation for a century. ^{[citation needed]}
