Cavanaugh was a member of the medical staff of the USS Lexington, serving under chief medical officer Elizabeth Lense.

In 2374, during a battle in the Setlik system during the Dominion War, Cavanaugh was incapacitated when the Lexington's sickbay was breached by a Dominion strike. (SCE eBook: War Stories, Book 1)

It is unclear whether or not Cavanaugh was one of the numerous casualties of this battle. She was named after the character of Jordan Cavanaugh, a medical examiner, from the TV series Crossing Jordan.
