A cent was a sub-division of the dollar. This was a minor form of currency used on Earth, equating to one one-hundreth of a dollar.

In 1930, James T. Kirk and Spock worked at the rate of fifteen cents an hour. This later increased to twenty-two cents an hour. (TOS novelization: The City on the Edge of Forever)
