The Chaffee (NX-74205/01) was a Federation Type-10 shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century. She was commissioned in 2373, and was the prototype for a new class of shuttles.
History

Around the year 2374, the Chaffee was assigned to the USS Defiant. Chaffee was named in honor of astronaut Roger B. Chaffee. (ST references: Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Technical Manual, Star Trek: Starship Spotter, Ships of the Line; Decipher RPG module: Starships)
Jadzia Dax once used Chaffee to catalog gaseous anomalies in the Badlands. (ST reference: Ships of the Line)
In late 2374, Benjamin Sisko, Miles O'Brien and Julian Bashir used the Chaffee to enter the atmosphere of a Class L planet to rescue Captain Lisa Cusak. After it was discovered Cusak had been dead for more than three years, they brought her body aboard the Defiant using the shuttlecraft. (DS9 episode: "The Sound of Her Voice")
In 2376, Chaffee, along with the Defiant's other Type-10 shuttlecraft Sagan, were tasked with evacuating an away team including Doctor Julian Bashir, Lieutenant Ezri Dax and Ensign Thirishar ch'Thane from the Tenara Cliffs on Trill. (ST - Divided We Fall comic: "Crossfire")
Later that same year, Doctor Bashir wanted to use the Chaffee to transfer medical supplies to Europa Nova. (DS9 - Gateways novel: Demons of Air and Darkness)
Several weeks later, the Chaffee was destroyed during the Defiant's historic exploration mission in the Gamma Quadrant. (DS9 novel: Twilight)
The Chaffee was featured in Starfleet Academy's 2383 edition of the Starship Spotter. (ST reference: Star Trek: Starship Spotter)
