The Chancellor of the Andorian Empire is the head of government for the Andorian Empire, one of the founding Federation Members. (ENT episode: "The Aenar") The Chancellor is chosen on the basis of who has the support of the majority of the Parliament Andoria, the Empire's democratic legislature. The office of Chancellor and its accompanying parliamentary democracy was founded in the 19th century by Thalisar the Last, the monarch who united Andor's warring clans and deliberately died childless so that her new parliamentary democracy would survive. In 2155, six years prior to the signing of the Articles of the Federation, the Andorian Chancellor alerted the Aenar of the impending arrival of United Earth Starfleet Captain Jonathan Archer and Andorian Imperial Guard Commander Hravishran th'Zoarhi as part of an ongoing investigation into the origins of a rogue ship attacking Andorian, Tellarite, and Rigellian vessels.
