Chandigahr was the main base of operations of Khan Noonien Singh during the late 20th century.

On January 10, 1996, Khan's base in Chandigahr was attacked and destroyed on the orders of United States President Bill Clinton. The strike was covered up as an attack against a terrorist base. However, Khan and over eighty of his followers had already escaped on the Botany Bay by the time the attack took place.
