Chang was a male Human in Starfleet in the late 23rd century. As of 2296, he held the rank of Ensign, and served as a bridge officer of the USS Intrepid II under Captain Spock. Chang was the first to detect the anomalous sensor reading indicating a cloaked Romulan vessel in the Loki system. (TOS novel: Vulcan's Forge)
