The USS Enterprise's chapel.
A chapel is an area of worship that has been included aboard Federation starships and starbases, and is used for the crew and visitors to worship, or for ceremonies to be performed, such as marriages and funerals.
Over the 13 month period between James T. Kirk becoming commanding officer and Lieutenant Lee Kelso's memorial service in 2265, the chapel aboard the USS Enterprise had been used for five weddings, an Iltrasian coming-of-age ceremony and a funeral. (TOS - My Brother's Keeper novel: Constitution)
In 2266, the wedding ceremony of Robert Tomlinson and Angela Martine aboard the Enterprise was interrupted when the Romulans attacked several Federation outposts along the Romulan Neutral Zone. During a lull in the battle, Captain Kirk completed the ceremony. Unfortunately, Tomlinson was later killed when the battle resumed, and his funeral was held in the chapel shortly after. In 2287, Captain Kirk delivered the eulogy for Ensign Thomas Lee, who had died saving Kirk's life, in the chapel of the Enterprise-A. (TOS comic: "Once a Hero!")
