A chef or cook was an individual who prepared food.

In the 22nd century, Ethan Novakovich had briefly worked as a cook before joining Starfleet. (CCG set: The Enterprise Collection, card: "Ethan Novakovich")

Prior to the development of replicators, chefs served on board Starfleet starships. The Enterprise chef was said to be the best in Starfleet. (ENT episode: "Fortunate Son") Crewman Terry Stiles was the chef on the Intrepid. (ST reference: Federation: The First 150 Years)
