The Chiokis Starship Construction Corporation was a design and manufacturing company operating in the 23rd and 24th centuries.
History and specifics[]
Chiokis was founded at the beginning of the 23rd century, on reference stardate 1/3412.1. It maintained separate divisions for building Federation Starfleet starships, commercial vessels, and associated technologies. It sometimes partnered with firms like Chandley Works, Ltd. and Rantura Shipping Lines. Its home office was located in Thelavor on Andor. (FASA RPG module: The Federation)
Chiokis based a number of its shipyard facilities near asteroid belts, proximate to abundant raw materials that could be mined. (FASA RPG module: Ship Construction Manual)
The corporation built and registered 93 Immaculata-class luxury yachts in the 23rd century, considered the most opulent yacht class in the Federation. (Stardate Magazine vol. 1, Issue 2: "Immaculata-class Luxury Yacht")
Among other projects, the corporation worked on several important designs for the Federation Starfleet, including the standardized docking port system introduced in 2269 (2211 SFC), the SW7-class shuttlecraft, and the viewports for the refit Constitution-class starship's recreation deck. By the late 2280s, as of reference stardate 2/2301, Chiokis was overseen by President and CEO Thuriyh Velm. The company produced more than 120 starships annually, including transports and freighters, more than any other single manufacturer. Manufacturing of the hull of the Andorian Thofsin-class cruiser was attributed to Chiokis in FASA RPG module: The Romulan War, but as that class served during the Earth-Romulan War, long before Chiokis was founded, it may have been developed by an earlier iteration of the corporation.
