A cigar is a tightly-rolled cylinder of dried and fermented tobacco or other leaves, designed to be ignited so that its smoke may be drawn into the mouth and lungs. Cigars are common in a number of cultures.

In 1947, General Rex Denning of the United States Army Air Corps smoked cigars. The Ferengi Quark advised him to quit for the good of his health. (DS9 episode: "Little Green Men")
