A class-3 probe or more specifically class III planetary probe was a type of probe used by the Federation Starfleet in the 24th century, since at least the year 2319. (TLE novel: One Constant Star, TNG reference: Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual)
The probes had a range of 1.2x106 kilometers. They were powered by a vectored deuterium micro fusion engine which could propel them at warp 0.65. Their sensors included terrestrial and gas giant sensor palettes with material collection and return capability and a submodule for chemical analysis on board. In addition to that, these probes had a limited-SIF-enhanced hull and were fully capable of terrestrial landing and subsurface penetration missions. They could survive missions in a gas giant's atmosphere up to a pressure of 450 bar. (TNG reference: Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual)
