The Cook was a Type-9 shuttlecraft that was assigned to the Sovereign-class USS Enterprise-E upon its launch in 2372.

In 2374, Lieutenant Commander Data used the Cook to cross into Cardassian space to monitor the progress of Captain Jean-Luc Picard and Ro Laren who were using the freighter Orb of Peace to find and destroy an artificial wormhole. When their mission was in jeopardy, Data piloted the shuttle into the artificial wormhole and successfully destroyed it. (TNG novels: Behind Enemy Lines, Tunnel Through the Stars)
