The Cousteau was a Federation shuttlecraft in service to Starfleet in the late 24th century. Designated as a captain's yacht, she was assigned to the USS Enterprise-E in 2372.
Captain Jean-Luc Picard rarely used the Cousteau, yet in 2375, Picard and his senior staff used the yacht to transport supplies to the surface to help fight the forced relocation of the Ba'ku from the Ba'ku planet against the Son'a and Starfleet Command. Although the attempt was successful, the Cousteau was severely damaged by a Son'a attack. (TNG movie: Star Trek: Insurrection) The Cousteau was scrapped, and replaced by a new yacht christened Calypso. (TNG novel: A Time to Be Born)
After the Calypso was destroyed in 2378, a new Cousteau was established as the captain's yacht. In 2382, this vessel's computer systems were used by Lieutenants T'Ryssa Chen and Taurik to work around sabotage done to the Enterprise systems. (TNG - Typhon Pact novel: Paths of Disharmony)
- The Cousteau was named after 20th century undersea explorer Jacques Cousteau.
