Crawler

A Crawler on Archernar IV.

Crawlers were originally a type of animal lifeform native to the planet Archernar IV that became sentient by the 23rd century.

History and specifics[]

The crawlers resembled Terran insects. The Archernarians used them like Terran horses for riding. They were also hunted and used for consumption by the Archernarians.

By the 2260s decade, the crawlers had started to evolve sentience, becoming able to speak for themselves and turn on their masters. (TOS - Mission's End comic:[citation needed])
