Daniel L. Kwan was a half-Human/half-Napean male who served as a Starfleet engineer in the late 24th century.

Early life and career[]

The son of Da'anira and David Kwan, Daniel was born in the city of Minneapolis on Earth in 2342. At the age of 17, Kwan entered Starfleet Academy and attended there between 2359 and 2363. In his first year at the Academy, Kwan was awarded the Scott Prize for Starship Design for an original design he made in the engines division. Following his graduation in the 94th percentile, with honors in engineering and physics, he was posted to the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards. (ST video game: Starship Creator; CCG set: Second Edition)

During his months at Utopia Planitia, Kwan was a member of the engineering team that finalized the warp propulsion construction for the USS Enterprise-D. In 2364, Kwan was promoted to lieutenant, junior grade and assigned to the USS Yamato as an engineer. After spending a year aboard the Yamato, Kwan transferred to Starbase 328, where he received advanced training in plasma injection systems. (ST video game: Starship Creator)

Aboard the Enterprise[]

Following brief assignments aboard the USS Seaview and USS Pueblo, Kwan was assigned to the Enterprise-D's engineering section in 2366. Over the next four years, Kwan became a popular crewmember aboard the Enterprise, and began a relationship with Ensign Maddy Calloway, a nurse, in 2369. Around the same time, Kwan was assigned as assistant supervisor to the starboard nacelle control room. (ST video game: Starship Creator)

The following year, Kwan committed suicide while jumping into a plasma stream, after he managed to access memories, through his telepathic abilities, of a murder aboard the Enterprise while the ship was under construction at the Utopia Planitia Yards. (TNG episode: "Eye of the Beholder")
