Lord Darok was a high caste male Romulan who lived in the 2360's.

In his youth, Darok had once attempted to hunt the vicious Syrinx. He was confident that he would be able to kill the creature and underestimated its threat which nearly cost him his life. He managed to kill the creature and noted it as one of his accomplishments.

Despite his high caste birth, Darok would refuse to enjoy the 'softer' approach in life. He would enter the military where a large number of successes ensured his rise to the leadership within the Romulan High Council as Praetor of the Romulan Star Empire.

He would summon Commander Valak to meet him in order to assign him a mission of vital importance to the Romulan Star Empire. He would give the prototype D'Kazanak class warbird, IRW Syrinx, to the young Romulan officer in order to investigate the planetoid Hermeticus II which was believed to have been a secret Federation base.
