David Crockett (17 August 1786 – 6 March 1836) was a Human who lived during the 18th and 19th centuries on Earth. Crockett was a major figure in early US American history as a soldier, one of Tennessee's representatives to Congress, and as part of the forces who held the Alamo against Mexican forces before being killed by these forces at the age of 49.
The noted American actor John Wayne later played Crockett in the 1960 film The Alamo. (DS9 episode: "Badda-Bing, Badda-Bang")
In the late 24th century, Chief Miles O'Brien and Doctor Julian Bashir became fascinated with the Alamo, and those who died defending the fort. In a holosuite recreation of the battle, Miles O'Brien played the role of Crockett. After recreating the battle in the holosuite, O'Brien and Bashir debated Crockett's role in the battle.
