- The planet Deneb Kaitos IV is also known as Deneb IV sometimes.
Deneb IV (or Alpha Cygni IV) is a Class M planet, and is the fourth planet located in the Alpha Cygni system. Deneb is also home to the humanoid species known as the Bandi. (ST reference: Star Trek: Star Charts)
In 2362, the Federation made first contact with the Bandi and met with their leader, Groppler Zorn. The contact went well and Zorn promised the Federation that the Bandi could construct a magnificent starbase for use by them.
By 2364, Farpoint Station had been "constructed" and the USS Enterprise-D was dispatched to the planet to investigate the starbase, as well as collect the rest of her remaining personnel. Eventually, Captain Jean-Luc Picard was able to ascertain that the starbase was actually a projection created by a star-jelly. (TNG episode & novelization: Encounter at Farpoint)
- Star Trek: Star Charts mistakenly refers to this planet as "Alpha Leonis IV" on page 34, but that would be Regulus, not Deneb. It is given the correct designation elsewhere in the book (e.g., pages 12, 41).
