Commander Desma was the Andorian first officer of the USS Trident in 2379. She was placed on the Trident by Starfleet against Captain Katerina Mueller's wishes as a thanks to the Andorians for their help in the Selelvian War. (NF novels: After the Fall, Missing in Action)
Captain Mueller disliked Commander Desma so much that she refused to address her by her proper title of Executive Officer for a long period of time. They have since worked out most of their problems.
