Deyin Kaiyel-Ned was a female Yemai of the planet Sigma Niobe II. She was an admiral of the Yemai Empire who, from her flagship, the Enai-ra, led a merchant fleet to the Ilaiyen Archipelago in 2268, in order to claim its natural wealth and legendary healing properties for the empire. When the Ilaiyenai were unresponsive to her seemingly friendly overtures, she ordered an armed attack on the islanders. (TOS short story: "As Others See Us")
