Distrel was a planet in the Nevis system, located in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant. It and Prastor were homeworlds of the technologically advanced Nevisian civilization.
History and specifics[]
Distrel was further from its star than Prastor. Distrel's gravity was less than 1 G.
13,000 years ago, Nevisians had a long distance transporter capable of beaming throughout the sector, though 12,000 years ago that ceased. Distrel and Prastor engaged in civil war ever since, with both worlds refusing diplomatic exchanges with the Federation. A resurrection transporter allowed citizens to die heroic deaths before being beamed to an undisclosed location outside the system, maintaining an endless war.
In the 23rd century, xenologist contact teams visited for short periods, making low-res surface maps and rudimentary scans of the planet.
In 2268, Harry Mudd and a Stella Mudd android visited Nestor and negotiated a temporary cease fire. Starfleet diverted the USS Enterprise to the system to investigate the sudden peace. When fighting resumed, Mudd and Leslie Lebrun were vaporized on Distrel, but the resurrection system revived them on Prastor. Pavel Chekov, Hikaru Sulu, Montgomery Scott, and James T. Kirk were killed on Prastor, then resurrected on Distrel.
The system jammed while trying to restore the damaged Stella android on Distrel. The Enterprise brought the real Stella to Distrel in order to restart the system. (TOS novel: Mudd in Your Eye)
