The Dolpheel were a telepathic species found on the planet Mirage by the U.S.S. Excelsior. It is believed that the Dolpheel scaned the starship while the crew scanned the planet. The Dolpheel are so named to their resemblance to a cross between a Dolphin and an eel.

They mate for life and can live in colonies as large as several hundred.(TOS novel: The Fearful Summons)
