Dopterians were a humanoid race native to the Alpha Quadrant planet Dopterius, notable for their physiological similarities to Ferengi, and their inability to be read by telepaths such as Betazoids. (DS9 episode: "The Forsaken")

History and specifics[]

A Dopterian competed in an interplanetary gymnastics meet at the University of Mississippi on Earth in 2245. (DS9 - The Lives of Dax short story: "Old Souls")

In 2267, a Dopterian ambassador convinced the Draqqi government to start a peace process with the Iach'tui, the former conquerors of the Draqqi. (TOS - Enterprise Logs short story: "The Avenger")

Lwaxana Troi was robbed of a brooch by a Dopterian in Quark's on Deep Space 9 in 2369. Odo was able to determine a Dopterian was responsible by asking Lwaxana if she could telepathically sense any guilt from the patrons in the bar. Troi could not, leading Odo to the Dopterian. (DS9 episode: "The Forsaken")

At the turn of the 2410s decade, the Tal Shiar listening post Hephaestus recorded that Starfleet Intelligence was concerned with a rise of war profiteering by independent Dopterians and Ferengi. (STO mission: "Mine Enemy")

Reports indicated that the Dopterians were funneling ships and supplies to Romulan exile Sela and her followers in exchange for decalithium. Also, since decalithium is a highly restricted substance, any ore that the Dopterians brought into Federation space was subject to seizure. (STO website : The Path to 2409)

Alternate realities[]

Kelvin timeline[]

In 2258, the Dopterians were known to the crew of the USS Enterprise. (ST novel: More Beautiful Than Death)

First Splinter timeline[]

A group of Dopterians, along with members of other races, were trapped on Pacifica during the Borg Invasion of 2381, but were able to go home when the crisis was over. (TNG novel: Losing the Peace)
