In an alternate timeline where the Federation and Klingon Empire jointly colonized planets under the Organian Peace Treaty, Dunwich was one of three Federation settlements on the planet Benecia.
The colony would experience a series of technological and industrial failures in the early to mid 2270s leading some to speculate that Klingon colonists were behind these events in an effort to drive off rival Federation settlers. (ST - Myriad Universes novel: Honor in the Night)
