Duty officers 2411

Starfleet duty officers, 2411.

In military organisations, a duty officer referred to personnel on spacecraft and spaceborne installations usually performing routine tasks or specific missions at the order of their senior staff, like bridge or commanding officers.

Duty officers included commissioned officers and non-commissioned officers. (STO - Call to Arms mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", duty officer system)

History[]

In the year 2370, Commander William T. Riker of the Federation starship USS Enterprise-D weighed between Ensigns Sam Lavelle and Sito Jaxa for the position of night duty officer on Ops duty station. Riker considered Lavelle the obvious candidate, and he received the promotion following the apparent death of Sito. (TNG episode: "Lower Decks")

In the early 25th century, members of the Khitomer Alliance employed duty officers on their starships and assigned them duty officer missions. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", duty officer system)

In 2409, Lieutenant Ferra of Starfleet Academy and Lieutenant S'stas of Klingon Academy assigned the first Exocomp duty officers to starship duty. (STO mission: "Reinforcements")

From 2410 onwards, members all five remaining Xindi species began serving as duty officers on Khitomer Alliance ships. (STO - Klingon War mission: "Welcome to Earth Spacedock", duty officer system)

Through the Delta Alliance, Delta Quadrant species also signed up for duty officer service. (STO video game: Delta Rising)

In 2411, versions of four ensigns of the USS Cerritos who were either time travelers, holograms, or Excalbian constructs, were assigned as duty officers to Khitomer Alliance starships. (STO - House Divided mission: "Free Lower Decks Duty Officers!")
