Edward Hagler was a Human male in the 24th century. In 2369 he had risen to the rank of Lieutenant in Starfleet and was serving on the USS Enterprise-D. In that year Hagler was one of several people on the Enterprise who were abducted by the Solanagen-based entities, who performed medical experiments on their abductees. The entities replaced Hagler's blood with polymer, an act which killed him shortly after being returned to the Enterprise. (TNG episode: "Schisms")

In 2376 William T. Riker recalled Hagler and his own experience with the entities when he was suffering flashbacks caused by exposure to the Orb of Memory. (DS9 - Avatar novel: ^{[citation needed]})
