Einstein (NCC-1701/6) was a Class F shuttlecraft assigned to the USS Enterprise.
In 2267, the Einstein was taken by Commodore Matthew Decker and piloted into the maw of a Doomsday machine in an attempt to destroy the automated planet destroying vessel. The Einstein and Decker were destroyed in the attempt but did inspire a successful attack on the planet killer shortly after. (TOS episode: "The Doomsday Machine", Ships of the Line)
[edit] Background
In its original presentation in "The Doomsday Machine" the shuttlecraft was reused footage of the Galileo from "The Galileo Seven". In the remastered version of "The Doomsday Machine" the original footage was replaced with new imagery of the Einstein (NCC-1701/6), this was preceded by an image by Adam "Mojo" Lebowitz in Ships of the Line which also showed the shuttlecraft sporting the NCC-1701/6 registration.
