An electromagnetic pulse (often shortened to EM pulse) is a natural or artificial burst of electromagnetic energy.

In late 2373, the USS Enterprise-E was continually swept by high-density EM pulses during a battle with two Cardassian Galor-class warships. The pulses caused numerous circuits to burn out and overload and caused several consoles to explode, injuring several crewman including Ensign Charles.
