Meitnerium (symbol Mt) is a chemical element, atomic number 109 on the periodic table.

Characteristics and history[]

Meitnerium, in its most stable form, has an atomic mass of 296. Meitnerium was discovered by Humans on Earth for the first time by scientists working in India in the year 1982. This element is part of the trans-uranic fissionable series of heavy elements. (ST reference: Star Fleet Medical Reference Manual)

The element went unnamed in the source, but the name "meitnerium" was later applied in real-life science.
