Engineering suit

An engineering suit was a specialised type of clothing used to protect the wearer from the dangerous environment of certain areas of engineering on starships. In the 2260s Starfleet-issue engineering suits included a helmet which completely masked the head.
In 2266 James T. Kirk and Spock donned engineering suits to extract an power rod from the power unit of the USS Enterprise. Even though they wore the suits it was still necessary for them to undergo decontamination after completing the operation. (TOS comic: "UK comic strips, first story arc")
- The name of this garment is speculative; in the comic Captain Kirk simply describes them as "special clothing".
