Syngreal, a.k.a. Epsilon Draconis III, was a planet, the third planet of the Epsilon Draconis system, located in the galaxy's Alpha Quadrant. It was the homeworld of the developing Syngrealan civilization.
Specifics[]
Syngreal's surface was heavily forested. (TOS - Star Trek III board game: The Sherwood Syndrome)
Some regions had more inhospitable mountainous terrain. Two moons could be seen in its blue sky, one of which had a ring system. (ST reference: Ships of the Line)
History[]
By the 23rd century, Syngreal's inhabitants had established small settlements along rivers. Syngrealans were at a medieval level, having built cathedrals, castles, river bridges, and other structures on the surface.
In the year 2268, Federation Developmental Aid sent a team to Syngreal aboard the starship Archon II that was meant to help advance the world's technology. However, the team's political specialist Dr. Stuart Cole instead began tampering with its culture, transitioning it from a democracy to a monarchy and installing himself as the king's advisor general. When the team failed to report in for three months, the Federation starship USS Enterprise was dispatched in an attempt to restore the status quo and mitigate societal damage. (TOS - Star Trek III board game: The Sherwood Syndrome)
In the early 2360s decade, the USS Leonov was heavily damaged near the planet during the Tzenkethi War, and her crew abandoned ship in escape pods. Half of them reached the surface. (SCE eBook: The Future Begins)
By an alternate account, Leonov's damage occurred in the 2370s, during the Dominion War, and all of the escape pods descended safely into a mountainous area. At this time, Epsilon Draconis III was a holding of the Dominion. (ST reference: Ships of the Line)
