[edit] Information
- This story begins a week after the Dominion crushed the Cardassian Rebellion in "The Dogs of War". The prologue features their arrival at Cardassia aboard their Jem'Hadar fighter in that episode and the epilogue features Damar's death in "What You Leave Behind".
- The events of "Tacking Into the Wind" are recalled by the main characters.
- Kira recalls the events of "Second Skin" where she was disguised as Iliana Ghemor. In Voyages of Imagination, Una McCormack states Kira's experience in that episode were "very relevant" in this story.
- McCormack's original idea for her Prophecy and Change story was to pick up where "In the Pale Moonlight" (her favorite DS9 episode) left off. Marco Palmieri felt there was enough material from that pitch for a novel, which became Hollow Men. (Voyages of Imagination)
- McCormack enjoyed writing about the Cardassian Rebellion during Star Trek: Deep Space Nine's Final Chapter arc, as it reminded her of Roj Blake and his resistance group from the BBC science fiction series Blake's 7. (Voyages of Imagination)
