The Federation Archaeology Council was the Federation governmental agency responsible for overseeing archaeological studies, and the allocation of funding and resources for them. The dig at "Camp Camelot" on Vulcan in 2293 was conducted under the authority of the FAC. (TOS short story: "The First Law of Metaphysics")

In 2316, the Federation Archaeology Council held their symposium on Rigel III. The USS Argos transported a team of Betazoid xenoarchaeologists to the symposium that year. (TLE novel: Well of Souls)

The Council held a symposium aboard the USS Enterprise-D in 2367, and invited Captain Jean-Luc Picard to give the keynote address. (TNG episode: "Qpid")

In 2375, Picard claimed that Starfleet was working in conjunction with the Federation Archaeology Council after the discovery of a Preserver obelisk. (TOS novel: Preserver)
