The Federation Security Service (or simply Federation Security) was an agency present within the Federation that was charged with security operations.

The service was concerned about threats from Vulcans against Memory Prime after they learnt that one of the Adepts of T'Pel had been hired for a contract against a target on the planetoid installation. (TOS novel: Memory Prime)

In 2285, a Federation Security officer arrested Dr. Leonard McCoy for discussing classified information about the planet Genesis. (TOS movie: Star Trek III: The Search for Spock)
