Fellowship of Artificial Intelligences

"We aren't really what you would call a 'culture.' It's more of a . . . well, think of us as a wine-tasting club: diverse individuals drawn together by our shared appreciation for the infinite flavors the universe has to offer." - Sam to Jean-Luc Picard. (TNG novel: Immortal Coil)

The Fellowship of Artificial Intelligence was a grouping of various artificial intelligences that existed within the galaxy.

This loose organization consisted of a number of highly evolved and very ancient artificial sentients who had all outlived or outgrew the different species that had created them. They wandered the galaxy where they lived, learned and grew; on certain occasions they were even known to had made their homes among organics and sometimes even shared their experiences with them, if only for a short period of time. They did not describe themselves as a culture but rather as a group that sought to share the experiences as well as appreciated for certain things that the universe had to offer them. Not all of their number consisted of vast intellectual powerhouses though most of the civilizations that had built them generally tried to incorporate some level of superior intelligence amongst their creations which led to varying degrees of success. The fellowship was known to share a single goal which was remaining watchful for new attempts at creatings beings such as themselves. They, however, did not generally keep a watch on each other.

The android creations of the civilization of Exo III were known to not had been members of this organization. In the 24th century, the Old One known as Sam became despondent after meeting so many foreign and alien races until he met the fellowship who accepted him amongst their number despite the fact that he was not a true artificial lifeform. They later kept a watch on a project in Starfleet that sought to create a holotronic android in 2374. After the crisis over the Exo III androids was over, the fellowship offered McAdams to join their ranks and experience the universe as they had. Captain Jean-Luc Picard lent a shuttle to McAdams on the condition that she ask the fellowship to send an ambassador to the United Federation of Planets someday. (TNG novel: Immortal Coil)

It should be noted that the novel simply refers to them as the fellowship or as the fellowship of artificial intelligence which is presumably their official name.
