Field primus was a flag officer rank in the Romulan Star Navy. In the 23rd century, t'Cael Zaniidor Kilyle held this rank, as of the year 2243. (TOS novel: Final Frontier)

As this rank was held by the commander of a group of ships, it appears equivalent to a commodore or rear admiral.
