Jadzia Dax is reunited with Kang, Kor and Koloth, whom with Curzon Dax swore a blood oath to avenge the deaths of their sons at the hands of the criminal they call the Albino.

Summary[]

Quark calls Odo to the holosuites as a drunken Klingon is refusing to leave a program of the Battle of Klach D'Kel Brakt. Odo successfully convinces the man to leave and takes him to the security office and puts him into a cell. Another Klingon arrives and visits the first man, but after seeing him drunk, tells Odo to keep him in the cell. Later, Odo is in Ops reporting to Kira when he mentions that the Klingon in the cells is called Kor, whose name Jadzia recognises. She asks if the other man's name was Kang, but realises that it is Koloth. All three are Klingon Dahar Masters.

Jadzia introduces herself to Kor, who was good friends with Curzon Dax and immediately accepts Jadzia as his new "old" friend. When she meets Koloth, she mentions negotiations that Curzon had with Koloth, during which Curzon called him D'akturak, the ice man. Kang arrives and mentions that he has located their shared enemy, the Albino.

Jadzia invites the three Klingons to her quarters, where she tells them that she still considers herself their friend and dedicated to a blood oath that Curzon made with them decades earlier. Kang plans to lead them to Secarus IV to kill the Albino, but refuses to let Jadzia participate.

In Ops, Jadzia asks Kira how many people she killed during her Bajoran underground days. Kira is uncomfortable with the question and pushes Jadzia for her question. Eighty years ago, Kang, Koloth and Kor launched an attack on the Albino's raiding operations; in revenge, the Albino had the three's sons killed with a genetic virus. Curzon, godfather to Kang's son, swore in a blood oath to seek revenge. Kira warns her that killing someone will kill a part of her as well.

To convince Kang and Koloth to allow her to join them on the mission, she challenges Koloth to a fight using bat'leths. Koloth is impressed, but Kang is still not convinced. Drawing on Curzon's tactic of turning his back on Kang and walking out of a negotiation, Jadzia angers Kang enough into giving his permission for her to come with them to Secarus. Meanwhile, Sisko has learned from Kira of Jadzia's plan and denies her a leave of absence. Dax decides to go anyway, telling Sisko that if she returns from the mission the repercussions will be for him to decide.

The Klingons and Jadzia leave the station on a bird-of-prey and make a battle plan for an attack on the Albino's compound. Kang advocates for a direct ground assault that Kor and Koloth agree to, but Jadzia questions Kang was to why. Kang reveals that the Albino contacted him and invited Kang to fight him and his most skilled men in one last battle, to which Kang agreed, despite knowing that the Albino would win. Jadzia convinces Kang that a victory would be possible by bombarding the Albino's compound with tetryon particles, which would disable all energy weapons in the vicinity. The only weapons able to be used would be fixed weapons like bat'leths.
