Els Renora

Els Renora

Els Renora (born 2269) was a female Bajoran who lived during the 23rd and 24th centuries. From at least the 2320s until the 2360s, Renora worked in the Bajoran judicial system holding positions such as lawyer and arbiter. Els had several children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In 2323, Els represented Syjin at his court appearance in Korto City's Korto City Watch Precinct. Syjin had been accused by the Cardassians of smuggling maraji crystals into the Cardassian Korto Enclave, a claim Syjin denied. Given Syjin's past history of smuggling, the judge was inclined to agree with the Cardassian conservator and turn Syjin over to the Cardassians for punishment, something which Els was strongly against, knowing all about Cardassian justice. After Darrah Mace vouched for Syjin, Els told them she believed the Cardassians had fabricated the evidence against Syjin to divert blame away from their own people. Els was aware of similar incidents where the government had acquiesced to the Cardassians, something which troubled her greatly. (DS9 - Terok Nor novel: Day of the Vipers)

In 2369, Renora arbitrated a hearing on Deep Space 9 to decide if Jadzia Dax could be extradited by the Klaestrons for Curzon Dax's alleged murder of General Ardelon Tandro. Els presided over several days of discussion on the Trill race and their symbionts, before Odo brought Enina Tandro to the station. When Tandro revealed Curzon could not have murdered General Tandro, Els brought the hearing to a close. (DS9 episode: "Dax")
