During most of his childhood Kemper lived in Duluth, Minnesota until junior high school. (ENT episode: "The Xindi")

MACO and Enterprise[]

Up until mid-2153, he'd been stationed outside Atlanta. Later, he was assigned to the MACO unit attached to the Enterprise (NX-01) during the Xindi incident of 2153-2154. (ENT novelization: The Expanse, ENT episode: "The Xindi")

Early on the Xindi mission, Kemper became romantically involved with Corporal Selma Guitierrez, who soon became pregnant but kept it a secret even from Kemper.

In Semptember, 2153, Kemper was part of a landing party the the planet Kaletoo, following a lead on the Xindi. They captured a smuggler named La'an Trahve, who then lured them into a Xindi trap, but the team maneged to get away. After Kemper returned to Enterprise, Selma informed him of their baby. (ENT novel: Last Full Measure)

Return home[]

After the conclusion of the Xindi mission, they both resigned from the MACO service to be a proper family and moved to Enterprise, Oregon. (ENT novel: The Good That Men Do)

In 2155, Kemper and Guitierrez were both bothered by Earth's losses in the Earth-Romulan War and decided that one of them must rejoin the MACOs while the other cared for Elena. In the end, they decided on flipping a dollar coin that Kemper had and he lost the coin toss. (ENT - The Romulan War novel: Beneath the Raptor's Wing)

Kemper was apparently one of the few who were "in the loop" concerning the reasons behind the faked death of Commander Charles Tucker III in 2161. Tucker apparently helped raise Elena. (ENT novel: Last Full Measure)
