The frigate was a tanker starship equipped for combat. The basic superstructure was supplemented with two spherical tanks holding theta radiation. The frigate was shorter and less powerful than a Malon cruiser. Frigates usually operated in groups of three. (STO - Delta Quadrant mission: "Reunion")
History[]
In the year 2410, three frigates were caught red-handed dumping theta radiation in the orbit of New Talax. Controller Selvk was unwilling to surrender this dumping ground to the Talaxians, and his ships engaged in battle with the Alpha Quadrant Alliance starship accompanying the Talaxian fleet. The frigates were no match for the AQA starship, which defeated Selvk's reinforcements as well. Defeated, Selvk surrendered the dumping ground to the Talaxians and his ships retreated.
